The journey time is about 30 minutes from the airport to the city center by subway. The tickets can be easily purchased at the airport service points. There is also a shuttle service with a minibus which allows you to go to all of the city’s destinations. You can also easily purchase the tickets at the airport. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the center of Budapest by taxi. This ride costs an average of 25 euros depending on the traffic.
Transport in Budapest
The metro in Budapest is one of Europe’s oldest metro lines. But it is indeed an easy and cheap way to see the city. Tickets for this can be purchased at the metro stations at the ticket machines. Take notice, because at some stops you can only pay with a pin. Metro tickets for various days are also available at the post office and newsagents. The city is not very big and therefore it is also advisable to see the city by foot or by bike.
The Budapest card gives you free public transport and provides access to the best sights. Sometimes attractions are completely free or you receive discounts up to 50%. Various attractions and thermal baths, restaurants are connected to the Budapest card.

Summer is the most popular time to visit the city. But Budapest is definitely not flooded with tourists and so summer is still the best time to go. Budapest is also perfect in spring and fall. The winters in Budapest are cold and then it gets subzero temperatures.
