The Azores: a journey with an overwhelmed & green nature
The Azores belong to Portugal. The Azores are immensely green and of unparalleled beauty. The Azores is the perfect place for nature lovers and for anyone who loves to walk and likes to get off the beaten track! The views are vast and amazing and some places are almost too good to be true. It is an ideal destination to discover for yourself with a rental car. The great thing is that traveling to the Azores is not that expensive at all!
Slovenia: a journey with the beauty of nature, blue lakes and fairytale places
I think Slovenia is perhaps the best kept secret in Europe. Last year I was there for the first time and it is the country that surprised me the most. The nature is impressive, the beaches are beautiful and the capital Ljubljana is beautiful. This country is also a perfect place to explore with a rental car and to stop in the nice places you encounter along the way. I found the most beautiful place Lake Bohinj because this lake is so blue and you can do various outdoor activities, such as walking, cycling and mountain biking.
East coast of Ireland: a journey full of myths, legends, historical treasures and whiskey
The surprising and beautiful east coast of van Ireland is a region full of green hills, breathtaking landscapes, myths and legends and a wealth of historical treasures! The stories in this region are rich in history, legend and magic and there are countless whiskey breweries. The east coast is the region that lies roughly between Dublin and Belfast and not many people visit this great part of Ireland! I have looked my eyes out and enjoyed all the beautiful things I have seen during my road trip.
Friesland: a journey in endless tranquility, typical Dutch landscape, lakes and culture
When we talk about the most beautiful places in Europe the province of Friesland cannot be skipped with the hidden gems. Did you know that the Lonely Planet also recommends Friesland as a destination in the top 10? Authentic villages, meadows, farms, waters, friendly people, cultural attractions…. Friesland has it all.
Bilbao: a wonderful city trip to a surprising city with culture, museums and beach
Bilbao is a big city in the Basque Country, in the north of Spain. Bilbao is world famous for the Guggenheim museum, but the city has much more to offer. Delightful pintxos, beautiful parks, old streets, impressive architecture and you are on the beach within 30 minutes. Forget Madrid and Barcelona and take a city trip to Bilbao and you will be surprised at how wonderful and versatile this city is. The great area around Bilbao can be easily discovered with a rental car.
The Black Forest: an adventurous road trip through nature, with mountains and waterfalls
The Black Forest is a very cool destination in Germany. I went there in the spring with a motorhome and I did a lot of great things. The parks, the villages, the vineyards, the waterfalls, the mountains …. there is so much to enjoy. This destination certainly belongs in the list of coolest places in Europe.
Mostar: a cultural journey through the intense history of a breathtakingly beautiful town
This medieval town is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina and is known for its bridge. From a number of points in the city you have a beautiful view of the famous bridge and the winding river. You can clearly see the different influences in the old streets. To be fair, in this town it can be busy with tourists and therefore it is advisable to go here early in the morning, so you can enjoy this beautiful town in peace.
Covilhã: a journey of picturesque villages with street art and cherry orchards
The everywhere present street art makes the sleepy village of Covilhã in Portugal a true open-air museum. Here you learn everything about street art and its social value. This village, but also several villages in the region, are a must visit for anyone who loves street art. An additional bonus: the nearby town of Aveiro is the Venice of Portugal. In June the cherry season is in this region and there are various festivals around the cherry harvest.
Kotor: a journey through nature, unique bays and cultural heritage
It is a surprising destination and is one of the most beautiful places in Europe. The medieval architecture and the present cultural heritage have ensured that Kotor is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. There is plenty to discover and see and you will never be bored here.
Costa Blanca: a trip to the waterfalls, hidden gems and beautiful beaches
Admire the nice and unknown places at the Costa Blanca. Like the waterfalls of Algar that are hidden in the mountains and you can cool off by taking a dip in the clear water. But also the artist town of Altea with its own artistic look and feel is worth a visit. Guadalest is a small village with less than 200 inhabitants and is built in a unique way in the rocks. One of the oldest villages on the Costa Blanca is Denia. Denia is a nice and typical Spanish fishing town with long sandy beaches. Get away from the mass tourism of Benidorm and on to the lesser known places!
