Asia has many beautiful temples which are worth visiting. I love to visit a temple and I am fortunate enough to have visited many temples already in Asia.

1. Bagan, Myanmar
Bagan is not a single structure, but a large collection of impressive temples. There are thousands of temples in the 40 km2 Bagan area. The around 4000 temples make for an impressive sight from an elevated position. Bagan has the largest collection of Buddhistic temples, pagodas and ruins in the world. A unique experience is to fly over Bagan with a hot air balloon. The way the Bagan temples are situated makes this area a magical place.
2. Borobudur, Indonesia
The highlight of a visit to the Indonesian island Java; Borobodur. This is the largest Buddhistic temple in the world. It is constructed from millions of stone bricks and is shaped like a large stupa (clock-shaped Buddhistic building). The temple is fully restored and there are various platforms with great statues. The best way to experience Borobudur is to be present when the sun rises over it.
3. Angkor Wat, Cambodia
Angkor Wat is the ‘main temple’ in an area with various temples scattered around the city of Siem Reap. The collective name for the area with all the temples in it is Angkor. This temple is 900 years old and is considered to be the biggest religious building in the world. Take into account it might get busy during the day and the best time to visit, is therefore early morning or late afternoon.
4. Harmandir Sahib, India
This temple calls Amritsar home and is the most important sanctuary for Sikhs. Next to the park is one of the best markets in Beijing, the Hongqiao Pearl Market.
6. Taktshang Monastery, Bhutan
This Buddhistic monastery is located in Bhutan. Its location is great: build against the cliff and hanging 700 meters over the Paro valley. It ensures a spectacular view. Taktshang consists of seven temples and the name Taktshang means ‘Tiger’s nest’.
