The most beautiful beach in the world, as far as I am concerned, is El Nido in the Philippines. You won’t know what you’re seeing; it is so unbelievably beautiful there. A place on Earth that silences you with its sheer beauty.
El Nido, the most beautiful beach of the Philippines!
Where is El Nido?
El Nido is located in the far north of the Palawan island in the Philippines. The Philippines consist of more than 7000 islands and Palawan is an absolute gem. The beach of El Nido is amazing! I would almost dare to say that it is the gem of whole Southeast Asia. Palawan is part of the Visayas and lies in the southeast of the Philippines. It consists of one large island and hundreds of small ones.
The town itself is small and the atmosphere is very relaxed. El Nido is cosy and has various small bars and restaurants but remains small-scale and even looks somewhat primitive. But you also don’t need anything in El Nido. The beaches and the sea are enough to entertain you. Also the hinterland of El Nido has much to offer for climbers, hikers and mountain bikers. Renting a scooter is – by the way – a nice alternative for seeing more of Palawan island.
From El Nido, you can take wonderful boat cruises along uninhabited small islands and lagoons. Having lunch on the beaches of the Bacuit archipelago and snorkeling are included in the boat cruises. Island-hopping is an ideal activity to do. The Bacuit archipelago islands, including Cadlao, Pinabuyutan, Tapiutan, and Manitloc, are all reachable with day cruises. There are various boat cruises and all are numbered so that you can book a different number every day. A boat cruise costs about 15 to 20 Euros per day and per person. Tip: these cruises can be arranged via El Taraw.
During what period is it best to visit El Nido?
December to May are the best months to visit El Nido, with average temperatures around 30 degrees and little precipitation. From July to November, there is a chance of prolonged precipitation and cyclones.
How do you get to the beach of El Nido?
It is not possible to fly directly to El Nido from the Netherlands. You must first fly to Manila, the capital of the Philippines, in order to go there. From Manila, you have two options:
- Domestic flight to the airport of El Nido
- Domestic flight to Puerto Princesa (with Cebu Pacific, for example) and then about 5-6 hours to El Nido through a bumpy bus ride. This option is cheaper and more frequent.
Hotel El Nido
There are some great places to stay in El Nido and I recommend you to book them in advance. I loved my stay at Amakan Bed & Breakfast. This B&B is beautifully decorated with plants. The staff is very helpful and he breakfast buffet has multiple selections. The location is very good, just a couple of blocks from the main shop streets of El Nido.
