Gili Air is a small paradise island located between Bali and Lombok. It is one of the three famous Gili islands and it is my absolute favorite island. Gili Air is not too big and not too busy like Gili Trawagnan, but also not too quiet that there is nothing to do like Gili Meno. A couple of days on this amazing beautiful island is delicious and I recommend it to everyone. The island is small and relaxed, but there is plenty to do to spend some nice days here. What are to best things you have to do on Gili Air?
8x what I think are the things you have to do on the small paradise Island Gili Air!
The day ends at Gili Air with a great sunset, so this is one of the best things to do on Gili Air! Get down on one of the many laid back zits somewhere, order a drink and enjoy! The western side of the island is the quietest side and there are a number of atmospheric bars and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the sunset. From this side of the island you see Gili Meno and behind there also Gili Trawangan.
You can even see Bali and the volcano Agung in the distance. This gives you a fantastic view and the sun almost sinks into the sea every day. The sky then turns red, orange and pink and everything in between. What a wonder of nature and this is the best way to end your day! Every day the sunset is around six o’clock.
2. Relaxing on the beach
The atmosphere at Gili Air automatically lets you switch back and slow down. It is wonderful to surrender yourself to this relaxed island feel. The day begins with a dip in the sea and then you jump on a sunbed or on a bag and you stay there. The beaches are beautiful and the sea is bright blue and there is just enough to entertain you. It’s also fun to find some shells and take them home as a souvenir.
3. Taking a swing
Gili Air is the island of the swings in the sea. According to my own score, there are a total of five swings and these are all in the sea. What’s more fun than to swing with your feet in the water! These swings are scattered all over the island and it’s great fun to test them all.Check here if you are looking for a places to stay at Gili Air
The underwater world at Gili Air is amazingly beautiful and the chance is that you will encounter a turtle while snorkeling. An organized day snorkeling costs Rp. 100.000 and then you are on a boat with a large group of people and you snorkel in four different places.
You have lunch at Gili Meno and you can also watch that island. What might be more fun to do is to hire a snorkel for Rp. 50.000 as well as a mask and walk into the sea and snorkel at ease. You do not have to go far in the water to see nice colorful fish.

5. Hiking around the island
A round trip around the island of Gili Air via the beach is a total of 5km and you walk that in about one and a half hours. The view is beautiful everywhere and you get a good picture of Gili Air. On some parts (for example at the port), the beach can’t be hiked over and you walk a bit over the road.
You will see several small massage salons at Gili Air. Starting a day or ending it with a massage is great. A massage costs about Rp at Gili Air. 150.000 for an hour. You can even take massages on a beach bed overlooking the sea.
7. Renting a bicycle
If you want to do something actively then renting a bike is a good idea. For Rp.50.000 you can rent a bike for 24 hours and explore the island by bike. Keep in mind that there are various sandy roads where you have to go get off your bike and have a walk. Also, I think the horse and carriage, which you see on Gili Air, always take precedence. Or in any case, they always take priority.
8. Visit the other two Gili islands
Gili Trawangan and Gili Meno are close to Gili Air. Due to the strong flow between the islands, there is no option to swim, but there are several boats throughout the day between the three islands. It’s nice to see that every island really has its own charm and character.Check here my travel route Bali and Lombok 2 weeks

Hotel Gili Air
I prefer to choose hotel Pandan Bungalow at the western side of the Island since it’s the quietest side and there are a number of atmospheric bars and restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the sunset. The position is good in front of the beach.
